Account Manager, Technical Sales
Inside Sales/Account Associate
The Account Associate develops and grows business with existing and new customers by providing knowledgeable, science-based support and solutions. This role focuses on building strong customer relationships via phone and electronic communication, understanding customer needs, and offering technical solutions that align with their requirements. The position is ideal for a science graduate who enjoys problem-solving, collaborating with others, and communicating technical concepts in a clear and engaging way.
Responsibilities
- Grow business with existing customers through proactive outbound calls and electronic communications, focusing on deepening relationships and increasing sales.
- Expand the customer base by identifying, qualifying, and converting new leads through lead qualification and cold calling activities.
- Handle inbound inquiries from customers and prospects, including product questions, literature requests, and sample requests, ensuring prompt and accurate responses.
- Conduct surveys in support of sales and marketing programs to gather customer feedback and market insights.
- Document all customer interactions, sales activities, and follow-ups in the CRM system to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams, including other account associates and account managers, to align on customer strategies and ensure a consistent customer experience.
- Understand customer needs and challenges and clearly explain technical solutions that address their requirements.
- Participate in training and mentoring programs to build product knowledge and enhance sales and technical support skills.
- Provide technical support to customers by leveraging a strong foundation in science to explain product features, benefits, and applications.
- Maintain a positive, energetic, and proactive approach to daily activities, contributing to a collaborative and supportive team environment.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in a science field, preferably Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or Engineering.
- Account management experience or aptitude, with a focus on customer relationship building.
- Customer service experience or strong customer-oriented mindset.
- Strong verbal and phone communication skills, with the ability to engage customers and explain technical concepts clearly.
- Strong written communication skills for professional emails and documentation.
- Well-developed organizational skills and effective time management abilities.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with a variety of people across disciplines.
- Strong work ethic and reliability in meeting commitments and deadlines.
- Positive, proactive, and energetic attitude with a self-starter mindset.
- Sales aptitude and comfort with cold calling and lead qualification.
- Ability to provide technical support and discuss technical aspects of consumer and industrial products.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Interest in the technical aspects of consumer and industrial products.
- Comfort working on a small, close-knit sales team.
- Willingness to travel after the first year as part of ongoing account development and customer relationship activities.
- Openness to comprehensive training and mentoring to build product, market, and sales knowledge.
Work Environment
This is an onsite position based at the company's headquarters in Shelton, CT, working Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The role involves regular use of Microsoft Office tools and a CRM system to manage customer information and sales activities. Comprehensive training and mentoring are provided to support professional growth and build confidence in both technical and commercial aspects of the role.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $75000.00/yr. Affinity Benefits 401k with match Vacation/Sick/Holiday
