Overview

Soccer Shots is recognized as the premier introductory soccer provider for children ages 2‑8 across the United States and Canada. Founded in 2002, the franchised organization operates in more than 170 territories and 36 states, serving over 500,000 children annually. In 2016, Soccer Shots was listed #194 on the Top 500 Franchise list and has been named the #1 Children’s Fitness Program in multiple years.

Soccer Shots Southwest Connecticut, established in 2021, covers Fairfield County and parts of New Haven and Middlesex Counties. The family‑owned franchise offers year‑round programs at nearly 100 locations, serving over 2,000 participants and employing about 20 part‑time coaches.

Duration:
Minimum 220 hours over an 11‑to‑13‑week season (Spring, Summer, or Fall). The internship combines office and on‑field duties, with 12‑15 consecutive work weeks and weekly hours ranging from 15 to 35. Students will coach a minimum of 25 sessions per week and support instructor training.

Compensation: $18 per hour plus a $100 gas stipend. Hours are scheduled to coincide with the intern’s residence when possible.

The internship provides exposure to franchise operations, business management, customer service, sales/marketing, event planning, coaching, and community outreach. Students will present themselves professionally, arrive punctually, and gain experience in planning, scheduling, sales, marketing, and youth coaching.

• Assist in the overall execution of the scheduled Soccer Shots season
• Plan and run free clinics
• Coach sessions throughout the season
• Produce video/photo projects
• Run demos and attend promotional events
• Participate in selling and social media content creation and communication
• Correspond with childcare center directors
• Create, print, and distribute registration forms and promotional materials
• Prepare and maintain equipment inventory for instructors
• Assist in preparation of instructor training meetings
• Prepare marketing documents and perform data entry
• Attend regional meetings, Director Round Table discussions, and staff meetings
• Submit a final report on the internship experience

A performance evaluation will occur at four weeks and at the conclusion of the internship, considering core values, core skills, attitude, effort, initiative, productivity, communication, professionalism, job‑specific skills, planning, business development, marketing, coaching, and administration.
