Description
Position SummaryBookkeeping duties for Island Enterprises, Inc. performing a variety of accounting duties.
Essential Duties- Perform accounting duties such as processing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, inventory tracking and other fiscal transactions.
- Prepare financial information detailing assets, liabilities, capital and prepares other reports to summarize current and projected financial positioning.
- Compile financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
- Review and verify general ledger balances.
- Prepare journal entries for general ledger.
- Reconcile check register, purchases, vendor statements and account detail.
- Prepare periodic reports for management use and analysis.
- Work closely with the Controller in reporting and monitoring the accounting system and financial activities of Island Enterprises entities.
- Verify and prepare documents for payment and deposits.
- Audit inventory and internal controls systems, report variances on a regular basis.
- Maintain a fixed asset accounting system.
- Maintain filing system for all financial transactions and data.
- Perform all other related and compatible duties such as assigned.
This position will have no supervisory responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Language Skills- Ability to read and interpret documents and procedures manuals.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, vendors and employees of the organization.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, fractions and ratios to practical situations.
- Ability to express abstract concepts using numbers.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Paylocity and Sage 100.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma/GED and 4 years relevant experience with a minimum of 20 credit hours in accounting.
- Associate of Arts Degree in a related field and 2 years progressive work experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting.
