Position Summary
A full-charge cost accounting role responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting for a manufacturing environment. This position supports all areas of accounting including inventory costing, production tracking, general ledger management, and month-end financial reporting. The role works closely with the Controller to ensure accurate financial data, strong internal controls, and timely reporting for manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities- Full-Cycle Accounting
- Manage full-charge accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and General Ledger
- Process sales orders, purchase orders, vendor payments, and customer receipts
- Handle intercompany billing and account reconciliations
- Prepare daily and monthly journal entries
- Track and reconcile raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods inventory
- Monitor production efficiencies and analyze variances
- Process inventory receipts, transfers, and warehouse movements
- Reconcile warehouse inventory on a daily basis
- Audit inventory systems and internal controls
- Perform daily and weekly cash reconciliations
- Reconcile bank accounts, check registers, vendor statements, and general ledger accounts
- Prepare month-end reconciliations of assets, liabilities, and expenses
- Assist in monthly financial statement preparation
- Report variances and financial discrepancies
- Prepare monthly federal reporting related to tobacco manufacturing operations
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation systems
- Support compliance with internal control procedures and audit requirements
- Work closely with the Controller on financial reporting and system integrity
- Maintain accounting systems and ensure data accuracy within ERP platforms
Education & Experience (one of the following):
- High School Diploma/GED + 5 years accounting experience
- Associate Degree in Accounting or related field + 3 years progressive experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting + 1 year relevant experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
- Experience with MAS
90, Sage 100 ERP, or similar integrated accounting systems - Strong understanding of manufacturing or inventory-based accounting preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- Ability to interpret financial data and draw accurate conclusions
- High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Physical Requirements
- Primarily office-based role with regular computer use
- Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs
- Ability to sit for extended periods and perform repetitive hand and wrist movements
- May occasionally require standing, walking, or light physical movement
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
- Must comply with drug and workplace policies
- Position requires strict confidentiality in handling financial information
