Position: Elementary Integrated Support Specialist & Instructional Coach (TOSA)

Posting Information: We are currently hiring an Integrated Support Specialist (0.5 FTE) and Teacher On Special Assignment (TOSA)/Instructional Coach (0.5 FTE) at Evergreen Elementary School beginning with the  school year.

Interview Process: If selected for an interview, you will be invited to complete an Asynchronous Virtual Interview. Candidates chosen for a second round interview will participate in an in-person interview.

Schedule: 1.0 FTE, 180 days per school year, 7 hours per day. This position will support 0.5 FTE as an Integrated Support Specialist & 0.5 FTE as Teacher On Special Assignment (TOSA) - Instructional Coach.

Location: Evergreen Elementary

Salary: $64,664 - $119,032 annually, depending on experience. The listed salary range is based on the  school year and will be updated once  salaries are finalized.

FLSA Status: Exempt

Benefits: 12 sick leave days of which 6 can be used for personal leave each school year; 5 days bereavement leave per school year; health insurance benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) including medical, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance for employee and eligible dependents. Overview

The Elementary Integrated Support Specialist / Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) supports the Shelton School District Strategic Plan and School Improvement Plans through instructional coaching, intervention support, and collaborative professional learning. This position works in partnership with teachers, administrators, and support staff to strengthen Tier 1 instruction, implement evidence-based interventions, and improve student achievement outcomes in literacy and mathematics.

The role provides embedded coaching and instructional support within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), including professional development, data analysis, intervention coordination, and supplemental student support services aligned to Title I and Learning Assistance Program (LAP) requirements. The position promotes equitable access to high-quality instruction and fosters a collaborative culture focused on continuous improvement and student success.

Requirements
  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with elementary endorsement.
  • Ability to pass a Federal Criminal Background Check.
  • Minimum of five years of successful elementary teaching experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of elementary literacy and mathematics instruction.
  • Experience using student assessment data to inform instruction and intervention.
  • Knowledge of MTSS, intervention systems, progress monitoring practices, and evidence-based instructional strategies.
  • Experience working in Title I and/or LAP programs (preferred)
  • Training in evidence-based literacy intervention practices, including structured literacy.
  • Experience supporting multilingual learners and students with diverse learning needs.
  • Instructional coaching or teacher leadership experience.
  • Experience facilitating small-group intervention instruction and professional learning communities (PLCs).
  • Ability to coach and support teachers using collaborative and reflective practices.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining positive, professional relationships with staff, students, families, and community partners.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and incorporate lightheartedness, fun, and humor into the workplace.
  • Excellent, effective communication skills including the use of active listening, two-way communication, and the use of appropriate communication channels.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and instructional technology tools.
  • Ability and willingness to work cooperatively as an instructional team member.
  • Ability to be reflective and humble with a growth mindset.
  • Ability and willingness to support and follow the Shelton School District Strategic Plan, School Improvement Plans, School Board Policies and Procedures, all regulations pertaining to public education and special education, and District initiatives.

Essential Functions
  • Implements instructional coaching cycles with teachers including goal setting, collaborative planning, modeling lessons, co-teaching, classroom observation, and learning-focused feedback.
  • Provides supplemental small-group and/or individual instruction and intervention in literacy and mathematics aligned with district, Title I, and Learning Assistance Program (LAP) requirements.
