Social Media Manager – Island Enterprises, Inc. – Shelton, WA
This hybrid position requires at least three in‑office days per week and local travel for content capture; remote flexibility available on other days.
Job DescriptionIsland Enterprises, a tribally owned and community-driven organization, seeks a creative and strategic Social Media Manager with proven cannabis marketing expertise to lead digital storytelling, content creation, and audience engagement across cannabis, seafood, and retail brands.
Essential Duties- Develop and execute social media strategies that drive measurable growth in followers, engagement, and conversions.
- Build and manage content calendars aligned to campaigns, promotions, and product launches.
- Write compelling, brand‑consistent copy and direct creative execution for visuals.
- Capture and edit short‑form video (Reels, Stories, Tik Tok) and provide live event coverage.
- Travel locally several times per week to capture content at retail, farm, and event sites.
- Engage with audiences through comments, DMs, and community moderation.
- Gather, analyze, and report performance data (GA4, native insights, dashboards); make data‑driven recommendations to optimize campaigns.
- Collaborate with design, operations, compliance, and leadership to maintain brand consistency and meet cannabis compliance standards.
- Safeguard brand accounts by staying ahead of platform restrictions and compliance risks.
- Streamline workflows with the Project Manager/Coordinator and maintain accountability through time tracking.
None initially; may expand into supervisory duties as the portfolio grows.
Work Environment- Hybrid schedule with a minimum of three in‑office days per week.
- Local travel required for on‑site content capture.
- Fast‑paced, creative, and collaborative environment.
- Occasional evening and weekend event coverage.
- Strong knowledge of cannabis marketing compliance, regulations, and consumer culture.
- Expertise in content strategy, campaign management, analytics reporting, and community engagement.
- Excellent writing, editing, and brand storytelling skills.
- Skilled in short‑form video production, live event coverage, and photography.
- Familiar with SEO basics, paid social campaigns, influencer partnerships, and emerging digital trends.
- Ability to analyze data, generate reports, and translate insights into actionable strategy.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven environment.
- Social scheduling tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Later, Hootsuite).
- Analytics platforms (GA4, Meta Insights, Tik Tok Analytics).
- Design and editing tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Cap Cut/Premiere/Final Cut).
- Project management platforms (e.g., Wrike).
- Direct cannabis marketing experience.
- Local candidate able to support hybrid schedule and site visits.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Portfolio submission required with cannabis‑specific examples.
- Professional references validating cannabis marketing or communications experience.
- Availability for occasional evening/weekend event coverage.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, digital media, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent hands‑on experience in social media marketing will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Agency background with multi‑client portfolio management.
- Experience working with tribally owned or community‑based organizations.
- Certifications such as Meta Blueprint or Google Analytics Certification.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills.
- None required; professional certifications in digital marketing or analytics preferred.
- Stand and walk for extended periods; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl on occasion.
- Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. regularly, with assistance.
- Use hands repeatedly for tasks; speak and hear effectively.
- Mandatory use of safety gear for relevant tasks.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and follow the Squaxin Island Tribe’s drug policies.
