Job SummaryAccountable for effective ongoing operations (24/7) of Emergency and Trauma Services. Maintains high standards of nursing care and staff performance. Establishes policies and procedures to provide administrative direction and develops and maintains a positive work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provides strategic leadership for the Emergency Department, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care across 24/7 operations. Oversees clinical and operational performance, including staffing, workflow, and resource allocation, while remaining actively engaged on the floor with staff as needed to support safe, efficient, and compliant care delivery.
- Participates in the development, implementation and ongoing assessment of nursing and trauma protocols and standards of care.
- Facilitates continuous process improvement. Identifies opportunities for improvement through patient and staff rounding and review of patient records; identifies problems and appropriate action for improving outcomes. Contributes to quality improvement programs and initiatives in accordance with hospital policies, community standards, and compliance with all laws, regulations and requirements of appropriate licensing and accrediting bodies.
- Builds and maintains effective working relationships. Advises and consults with physicians, nurses, and other hospital personnel. Serves as a liaison across disciplines. Acts as a liaison between community partners, EMS and other hospitals. Participates as an active member of various committees; leads work groups, projects and committees as assigned.
- Actively supports a positive workplace culture. Monitors the work performance of staff and provides timely feedback and performance management. Maintains effective employee and labor relations practices, including timely follow-up and resolution of concerns or issues. Ensures that policies and collective bargaining agreements are administered consistently and equitably.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.

Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing. Masters degree in Nursing, Business Administration or Healthcare Systems.
- Five (5) years of recent relevant experience in an emergency department.
- Five (5) years of recent nursing leadership experience.
- Registered Nurse in the State of Washington.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification, or within 180 days of hire.
- Current Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certification.
