Schedule:

Wednesday - Sunday, 14:00 - 22:30

The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN4) for the Washington Corrections Center Shelton, WA.

Licensed Practical Nurses will receive shift differential in the amount of two dollars and fifty cents ($2.50) per hour for evening shift and night shift work. Employees may also qualify for one or both of these supplemental shift premiums in addition to the above.

* One dollar ($1.00) per hour during any hours assigned to work from 11:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m.

* Three dollars ($3.00) per hour during any hours worked from Friday midnight to Sunday midnight.

Washington Corrections Center is our transition center were all those that are being assigned to DOC come to for initial evaluation and are then sent to other facilities for their care needs.  This is a busy facility seeing patients for physicals and transfers. Washington Corrections Center has both inpatient and outpatient clinics that see numerous patients for different health needs and concerns.

Practice nursing safely and effectively in the correctional setting and within the scope of practice defined by state law and administrative code.

* Monitor and collect specific data, as directed, about the health status, clinical condition, or situation of individuals, families, groups, and communities by interview, observation, inspection, and examination. Report the results of the data collection to the Registered Nurse.

* Assist the Registered Nurse in developing nursing diagnoses and outcomes to be achieved as a result of nursing intervention.

* Contribute to the development of the plan of nursing care including identification of approaches, time frames, and pathways for the delivery of health care. Assist the Registered Nurse in prioritizing and sequencing care.

* Carry out the plan of care by performing common therapeutic nursing interventions, informing others about the urgency, time, and methods to deliver health care on and off site. Determine when needs for care or services are beyond the LPN scope of practice, require clarification, or require another type or level of intervention. Take action as necessary to obtain direction from the Registered Nurse and accomplish prescribed interventions in a timely and clinically responsive manner.

* Assist the Registered Nurse in analysis and evaluation of the structure, process and time frames for service delivery, the expected effects of treatment or intervention, and the outcomes to be achieved. Assist the Registered Nurse to revise the plan of care as necessary.

* In accordance with the intent and provisions of established policies, practices, and procedures, employ appropriate safety techniques to push, pull, lift, and carry loads.

* Supervise and assign tasks to subordinate staff on the nursing team.

* Delegate and assign responsibility for patient care to other Licensed Practical Nurses and assistive nursing personnel after considering the needs, condition, and stability of the patient, potential for harm, complexity of tasks, and predictability of outcomes.

* Teach, instruct, monitor, supervise, and evaluate the implementation of tasks and the results of patient care assigned to other personnel.

* Supervise the staff to whom functions have been delegated, and report the outcomes of delegated nursing tasks to the Registered Nurse or other supervising health care provider.

* Be in attendance, capable, and competent to practice nursing as assigned.
