Multiple Locations Throughout Washington State

Schedule Details

Most facilities do a 5x8 schedule, Days, Eves, and Night block schedule. You will submit your availability when submitted.

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care within a correctional setting. Duties include patient assessments, medication administration, emergency response, chronic disease management, documentation, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary healthcare team. Nurses play a critical role in ensuring safe, ethical, and effective care for incarcerated individuals.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct health assessments and nursing evaluations
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
  • Monitor and document patient conditions and responses to treatment
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate interventions
  • Coordinate care with providers and healthcare staff
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records
  • Educate patients regarding healthcare needs and treatment plans
  • Adhere to facility policies, security procedures, and nursing standards
Minimum Requirements
  • Active RN license (Washington State or compact license if applicable)
  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience
  • Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a correctional healthcare environment

The Correctional RN works in collaboration with other healthcare professionals, correctional officers, and administrators to ensure the well-being of the incarcerated population. The Correctional RN utilizes their knowledge to address the specific challenges and limitations of the correctional environment while providing care to their patient population. This care includes both routine and emergency health care in a correctional facility setting.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current Registered Nurse License for the state in which the nurse practices
  • Minimum of one year of correctional health care experience preferred
  • Current CPR if applicable
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
