POSITION SUMMARY

The Deli Cook Lead will oversee and manage the Deli Department and is responsible for the preparation of deli‑made foods for sale in deli service and retail cases, assists with ordering, receiving, stocking and display of deli product, prepares fresh coffee‑bar beverages as needed, maintains department cleanliness, and provides friendly and professional customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Prepares deli recipes according to procedure.
  • Cleans and stocks deli cases according to procedure, utilizing proper signage.
  • Maintains working knowledge of Deli recipes and prepared foods.
  • Trains other staff as needed.
  • Tracking AIM Book for inventory and ordering purposes.
  • Receives product deliveries, ensuring order and invoice accuracy.
  • Stocks, rotates, merchandises and faces product according to department procedure.
  • Maintains back‑stock areas according to department standards.
  • Prepare food items for frying and grilling purposes.
  • Check each food item to ensure that it is fresh, and provide feedback to kitchen team in cases where freshness is an issue.
  • Operate fryers and grills according to instructions, pour oil in them, and place items in them for frying and grilling purposes.
  • Monitor the time and heat of equipment, ensuring that both are regulated as and when necessary.
  • Handle portion control activities, according to specified instructions.
  • Clean and maintain fryers and grills, ensuring that they are kept in pristine condition all through.
  • Handle waste management duties, by ensuring that trash is properly and safely disposed of.
  • Deliver soiled dishes and pots and pans to washing areas, and assist in cleaning and drying them.
  • Demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to Native American culture and values.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will have supervisory responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Exposure to hot and cold work environments, moving equipment, moderate noise, and confined work spaces.
  • Use of cleaning and sanitation chemicals.
  • Potential hazards associated with sharp equipment and food preparation tools, including knives and box cutters.

    Skills:

    Ability to communicate professionally, respectfully, and effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors while maintaining confidentiality and demonstrating sensitivity to Native American culture.

    Skills:

    Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations related to inventory, transactions, and operational tasks accurately.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to follow policies and procedures, resolve conflicts professionally, adapt to changing tasks, prioritize responsibilities, demonstrate teamwork, accept feedback constructively, and identify and address issues proactively.

    Skills:

    Proficient in POS and inventory systems, email communication, and standard computer applications including word processing software.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education Required: High School Diploma/GED and 3 years relevant experience OR Associate of Arts degree and 1 year relevant experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel with frequent hand and wrist movements; talk or hear; stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to pass a criminal background check and follow the Squaxin Island Tribe's drug policies.
