Correctional Officer 1 (CO2) – Washington Corrections Center
Washington Corrections Center (WCC) is located in Shelton, WA. The facility houses approximately 1,500 offenders and processes, tests, and classifies adult male felons sentenced to prison in Washington State.
Salary Information- Full‑time: $6,046 – $6,512 (TEAMSTERS Range 45 Step J‑M)
- On‑call/Hourly: $34.75 – $37.43 (TEAMSTERS Range 45 Step J‑M)
- Full‑time: $6,200 – $7,013 (TEAMSTERS Range 48 Step H‑M)
- On‑call/Hourly: $35.63 – $40.30 (TEAMSTERS Range 48 Step H‑M)
- One year of experience as a Department of Corrections (DOC) Corrections and Custody Officer, including completion of the CORE Academy and the Correctional Officer Field Training Program.
- One year of experience as a Correctional Officer in adult or juvenile corrections with equivalent security functions to a DOC Corrections and Security Officer 2.
- Graduation from high school or GED.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Legal right to carry a firearm.
Correctional Officers provide safety and security, control, direct, and monitor activities and movement of incarcerated individuals.
Duties include:
- Maintaining security of the institution and controlling movement within the facility in accordance with established department methods and procedures.
- Serving as a positive role model and working with inmates to help them become productive members of society.
- Using interpersonal and communication skills to counteract criminal thinking while maintaining safe confinement environments.
- Completing required training, including Correctional Worker Core Academy and ongoing on‑job training.
- Providing overtime as required.
