Description
POSITION SUMMARYThis position will be responsible for receiving fishing vessels, unloading the catch, weighing the fish, and layering fish with ice in totes. It will also unload totes at the end of the day at Salish Seafoods plant and load truck for delivery.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES- Receive fishing vessels at the tender, tie them to the tender, and promptly unload fish by hand (catch per vessel can range between 100 and 10,000 lbs.)
- Identify different fin-fish species.
- Maintain awareness and sensitivity to Native American Culture.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions, correspondence, and operational procedures; communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors. - Mathematical Skills

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. - Reasoning Ability
:
Apply common sense and sound judgment to carry out detailed instructions and resolve routine problems involving standardized variables; identify and differentiate fin-fish species and apply that knowledge in daily operations. - Computer Skills
:
Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to use email, data entry systems, and standard business software as required.
- High School Diploma/GED and relevant experience operating hydraulic controls and operating lift trucks and booms.
- Must have valid Washington State Driver’s License and must be bondable.
Employee must be able to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel with frequent hand and wrist movements, talk or hear. Must occasionally stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
OTHERREQUIREMENTS
Must be able to pass a criminal background check and follow the Squaxin Island Tribe’s drug policies.
