Position: ESS Daytime Waiver Instructional Tutor (2025-2026) - Shepherdsville Elementary
This position is paid from ESS allocations so it is funded for the  school year only.

NOTICE OF POSSIBLE WAIVER:
To expedite the hiring for this position, the hiring supervisor may apply for a waiver to prevent disruption of necessary instructional or support services.

Instructional Tutor Position:
Shepherdsville Elementary School is seeking a highly qualified instructional tutor to provide reading and math interventions to our struggling students. The position is 3 hours per day for 140 days per year. Hours will be decided upon hire, but will start mid-morning and end in early afternoon. The successful candidate must:

* Assist in the implementation of education programs by providing comprehensive assessments, evaluations and instruction to meet the needs of children.

* Believe that all students can learn

* Believe in supporting the needs of the whole child

* Knowledgeable of and able to implement best instructional practices used at SES

* Able to partner with the instructional coach, certified classroom teachers, a second instructional tutor, and other classified instructional assistants in a collaborative setting to support the learning of struggling students

* Self-initiating and able to instruct and work independently without direct supervision

* Regular in attendance and punctual

* Organized

* Supportive of the total school program

This position is for 3 hours per day and 140 student instructional days.

Contracted days will be adjusted depending upon start date.

Position is part-time and not eligible for benefits unless combined with another position.

* Must have 64 college credit hours and a 2.5 GPA and provide a copy to HR upon recommendation to hire.

New employees to the district may bring in up to 10 years of comparable, full-time, verified experience. (

NOTE:

It will be the responsibility of the applicant hired to submit the BCPS verification of experience form to their prior employer to complete and return to HR.)

Step 0: $23.91 per hour

Step 10: $26.18 per hour

Although Classified positions are paid at an hourly rate, salary is set up on a year-long contract and divided by the number of remaining paychecks. This position is considered a ten-month employee on the pay schedule. 4 paychecks will be paid at the end of June.
