Special Education Instructional Health Assistant
Join us for the school year! Interested applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Bullitt County Public Schools is requesting a waiver to fill this position before the standard 15-day posting period to ensure we are fully staffed for the upcoming school year.
Shepherdsville Elementary is looking for a special education instructional health assistant. In this position, you will assist students with special education services within a highly structured classroom and in the general education classroom. As part of a high functioning team, candidates would be responsible for collaborating with the staff times candidates will also be providing for the health care needs of students during the school day in accordance with state laws and district regulations.
Candidate may assist students with toileting needs addition, candidates must commit to being part of a positive school culture where all students are cared for and provided the proper supports to ensure each student grows.
Hours: 6.5 hours per day (plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch)
Contract Length: 183 days per year
- 170 student instructional days
- 4 holidays
- 7 planning days
- 2 extended days
Contract Adjustments: Contracted days will be prorated based on the start date
Employment Status: Full-time with benefits
Employment Type: 10-month employee on the classified salary schedule.
Qualifications & Requirements- Education: Must meet one of the following:
- 48 college semester hours
- An Associate's Degree OR
- High school diploma plus a passing score on the Para educator Assessment Exam.
- Documentation: Candidates must provide proof of educational requirements to HR upon recommendation for hire.

Step 10: $20.26
We value experience! Previous experience working with students, intervention systems, and small-group instruction is strongly desired.

New employees may transfer up to 10 years of comparable, full-time, verified experience. - Note:
It is the employee's responsibility to submit the BCPS Verification of Experience form to previous employers.
Payroll Note: While this is an hourly position, the salary is distributed via a year-long contract over 10 months. You will receive 4 paychecks at the end of June.
Salary Formula: Hours per day × Hourly rate = Daily rate Daily rate × Contracted days = Annual salary. Annual salary ÷ Remaining pay periods = Gross biweekly pay
