Shepherdsville Elementary School is looking for a kindergarten instructional assistant to support student learning during the  school year. The assistant will help a certificated teacher provide instruction to individual or small groups of kindergarten students and monitor and report student progress.

• Assist in instruction to individual or small groups of kindergarten students.
• Monitor student progress and support reporting.
• Provide assistance in classroom management and set‑up.
• Maintain a safe and instructional environment.

• Hours:
  
  6.25 hours per day (+30‑minute unpaid lunch).
• Contract Length: 183 days per year (170 instructional days, 4 holidays, 7 planning days, 2 extended days).
• Contract Adjustments:
  Contracted days prorated based on start date.
• Employment Status:
  Full‑time with benefits.
• Employment Type:
  
  10‑month employee on the classified pay schedule.

• Education (must meet one of the following):
  • 48 college semester hours
  • Associate’s Degree
  • High school diploma plus a passing score on the Para educator Assessment Exam
• Documentation: Provide proof of educational requirement to HR upon recommendation for hire.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

• Up to 10 years of comparable, full‑time, verified experience with students may be considered.
• Applicants are responsible for submitting the BCPS Verification of Experience Form to prior employers for completion and return to HR.

• Starting Pay (Step
  0): $16.46/hour.
• Experienced Pay (Step 10): $20.26/hour.
• Salary is calculated as:
  Hours per day × Hourly rate = Daily rate;
  Daily rate × Contracted days = Annual salary;
  Annual salary ÷ Remaining pay periods = Gross biweekly pay.
• Hourly position paid via year‑long contract over 10 months. Paychecks are issued four times at the end of June.

• Retirement:
  Membership in the Kentucky Public Pensions Authority (KPPA).
• Life Insurance: $50,000 total (State of Kentucky pays $20,000, BCPS pays $30,000).
• Health Coverage:
  Comprehensive Health Insurance (employee premium based on plan selected) or Waiver HRA options.
• Time Off:
  Sick Leave, Personal Leave, and Emergency Leave (prorated). Unused Personal Leave rolls over to Sick Leave; unused Sick Leave rolls over.
• Optional Benefits:
  Dental, Vision, Sick Leave Bank Membership, Bloodborne Pathogen/Hepatitis B vaccination series, and additional voluntary coverage through American Fidelity.
