BCHS is looking for a caring, compassionate, student centered individual to join our team. This individual needs to be organized, flexible, a team player and willing to support the needs of all students are looking for someone with experience with children with special needs including emotional behavior disorders. This individual will be able to help students to engage in their learning experiences.

Contract Length: 183 days per year
- 170 student instructional days
- 4 holidays
- 2 extended days
Contract Adjustments: Contracted days will be prorated based on the start date
Employment Status

Full-time with benefits
Employment Type: 10-month employee on the classified salary schedule.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Must meet one of the following:
- 48 college semester hours
- An Associate’s Degree OR
- High school diploma plus a passing score on the Para educator Assessment Exam.
- Documentation: Candidates must provide proof of educational requirements to HR upon recommendation for hire.
Compensation & Experience Credit
pay scale
Step 0: $16.46
Step 10: $20.26
We value experience! Previous experience working with students, intervention systems, and small-group instruction is strongly desired.
- Experience Credit: New employees may transfer up to 10 years of comparable, full-time, verified experience.
- Note:
It is the employee's responsibility to submit the BCPS Verification of Experience form to previous employers.
Payroll
Note:
While this is an hourly position, the salary is distributed via a year-long contract over 10 months. You will receive 4 paychecks at the end of June.
Salary Formula: Hours per day × Hourly rate = Daily rate Daily rate × Contracted days = Annual salary. Annual salary ÷ Remaining pay periods = Gross biweekly pay
