POSITION:
School Safety Monitor

Job Class Code: 7830

POSITION SUMMARY:

Participate in monitoring students entering and leaving school grounds; operate, set up, and maintain weapons detection systems; monitor hallways during class time and transition times; provide protection for students and faculty by patrolling school grounds; ensure classroom doors are locked and shut during instruction; perform routine safety checks throughout the building as directed; and maintain safety compliance as outlined in Kentucky law.

SUPERVISOR :

DUTIES
  • Participate in monitoring students entering and leaving school grounds.
  • Maintain order and acceptable conduct among students.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Learn related District policies and objectives as well as be familiar with the Safety, Security and Resiliency Act for Kentucky.
  • Prevent students from leaving school grounds without proper authorization according to established guidelines and procedures.
  • Prevent trespassers from entering or remaining on school grounds without proper authorization according to established guidelines and procedures.
  • Consult with office administration if a problem should arise.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Operate weapons detection systems.
  • Conduct hall sweeps to check for tardy students.
  • Ensure all classroom doors are locked and shut during instructional times.
  • Maintain safety compliance as outlined in the Kentucky Safety, Security and Resiliency Act.
  • Perform school safety and facility checks as directed by the Chief of Police and/or Principal

EVALUATION

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel. The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this job classification. Responsibilities and duties assigned are at the discretion of the supervisor.

Position Details

Hours: 8 hours per day (plus a 30 minute unpaid lunch break)

Contract Length: 178 days per year

  • 170 student instructional days
  • 4 holidays
  • 4 extended days

Contract Adjustments: Contracted days will be prorated based on the start date

Employment Status
:
Full-time (eligible for benefits)

Employment Type
: 10-month employee on the classified pay schedule

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education:
    • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Documentation: Candidates must provide proof of educational requirements to HR upon recommendation for hire.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older

Pay Scale

  • Starting Pay (Step

    $17.57/hour
  • Experienced Pay (Step 10):$21.44/hour
