Job DescriptionJoin us for the school year.
Responsible for assisting teachers and schools with providing assistance in classroom instruction, student behavioral support, and providing for the health care needs of students during the school day in accordance with state laws and district regulations.
School placement and schedule are evaluated periodically and determined based on need. Initial Placement for the school year is Bullitt East High School, to provide individualized support for students who are Moderately to Severely Disabled (MSD).
Position Details- Hours: 6.25 hours per day (plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch)
- Contract Length: 183 days per year
- 170 student instructional days
- 4 holidays
- 7 planning days
- 2 extended days
- Contract Adjustments: Contracted days will be prorated based on the start date
- Employment Status: Full-time with benefits
- Employment Type: 10-month employee on the classified pay schedule
- Education: Must meet one of the following:
- 48 college semester hours
- An Associate’s Degree
- High school diploma plus a passing score on the Para educator Assessment Exam
- Documentation: Candidates must provide proof of educational requirements to HR upon recommendation for hire
Salary for the school year will be based on Board approved salary schedule.
Pay Scale
- Starting Pay (Step
0): $15.98/hour - Experienced Pay (Step 10): $19.67/hour
We value experience! Previous experience working with students, intervention systems, and small-group instruction is strongly desired.
New hires may bring up to 10 years of comparable, full-time, verified experience.
- The hired applicant is responsible for submitting the BCPS Verification of Experience Form to prior employers for completion and return to HR.
Payroll
Note:
While this is an hourly position, the salary is distributed via a year-long contract over 10 months. You will receive 4 paychecks at the end of June.
Salary Formula:
Hours per day × Hourly rate = Daily rate. Daily rate × Contracted days = Annual salary. Annual salary ÷ Remaining pay periods = Gross biweekly pay.
