By joining our Shepherdsville Section, Bullitt County Unit as a Highway Technician Superintendent II, in Bullitt County you’ll havethe opportunity to supervise employees in repair of road and highway maintenance, oversee maintenance projects, and inspect work for completion.

Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Supervises employees and contract work in maintenance and repair of roads and highways
  • Reviews roadway conditions, determines repair needs and methods, and prioritizes projects for completion.
  • Maintains and completes records and reports on personnel, equipment, supplies and budgeting
  • Receives and addresses inquiries from supervisors, citizens, and public officials on highway issues
  • Coordinates special assignments and projects with appropriate authorities

Additional position information:

Incumbents in this job title must possess the ability to work, sit, stoop and bend. Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: High school graduate.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR

SKILLS:

Must have twelve years of construction or highway maintenance experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for

EXPERIENCE:

Graduate of a college or university with an associate's degree in engineering technology, construction management, engineering science, engineering mechanics, geology, earth science, industrial drafting, design technology, construction technology or a related field will substitute for two (2) years of the highway related experience in construction and maintenance. Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in engineering will substitute for four (4) years of the highway related experience in construction and maintenance.

Graduate of a college or university with an associate's degree in Engineering Technology with completion of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's Civil Engineering Technology Scholarship Program will substitute for six (6) years highway related experience in construction or maintenance. College coursework related to any of these fields will substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

EDUCATION:

NONE

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be 18 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's and a Class A commercial driver's license with tanker endorsement to qualify for employment in this job classification. The employee must successfully complete the KYTC Highway Technician Academy Leadership Level 2 or equivalent within one year of employment in this job classification.

Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials.
