Position: Senior Material Handler (2nd Shift) - Shepherdsville KY

Job Description

Provides warehouse services assigned through safe, efficient, cost‑effective and accurate handling of customer products and material using specially equipped trucks such as slipsheet, clamps and reach. This position may involve all phases of loading, unloading, staging and storage of customer's product as well as the use of computer equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Pulling Orders
  • Accurately locate and load, both by hand and using appropriate motorized equipment (e.g., forklift truck), customer product onto/from pallets, trays, racks and shelves according to established procedures and safety regulations. Operate special equipment such as turret clamp, slip‑sheet equipment and RF unit (if applicable).
  • Count, weigh and record number of units of materials handled on daily production sheet.
  • Complete specialized order processing for loading by stenciling, slip‑sheeting, shrink‑wrapping, labeling and consolidating as required on order.
Operating & Maintenance – Equipment and Grounds
  • Assign / verify trailers to appropriate dock and/or yard location, lock dock‑locks, chock wheels (if applicable), following all safety rules and company policy.
  • Daily inspect and repair or adjust tow‑motor vehicles before operating, completing the tow‑motor inspection sheet and reporting defective equipment immediately.
  • Prepare trailers prior to loading product by inspecting and cleaning as needed for product preservation.
  • Assist in building and grounds maintenance to ensure the facility is kept clean, neat, safe and orderly.
Loading & Unloading
  • Load picked orders or pull & load according to policies and procedures, completing appropriate paperwork including Bill of Lading, Pick Report, Trailer Audit and Lot Verification.
  • Unload, move, stack and stage customer products and materials by hand and using forklift or other power equipment, keeping appropriate records and reports.
Reports
  • Complete activity and statistical reports as assigned by supervisor.
  • Assist in physical inventories ensuring facility and contents are secure.
Miscellaneous
  • Provide other services such as sanitation, assembling crates (boxes) and moving loose materials to containers, as directed by supervisor or team leader.
Health, Safety and Environment
  • Follow basic mandatory work instructions, use personal protective equipment, safeguard environment and wellbeing of oneself and others.
Additional Information
  • Apply The APL Logistics Continuous Improvement (ACI) Model for operational efficiency, improve business process, increase proficiency and efficiency through waste elimination.
  • Apply the 5S Lean methodology to sustain a safe, clean and orderly facility.
  • Position requires performance to meet and occasionally exceed standards set by the company for warehouse safety, food safety, sanitation, quality, productivity and customer service.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Forklift Certification
Experience
  • Preferred two (2) years forklift/tow motor experience required (forklift certification required).
  • Ability to operate forklift – both sit down and stand up, tow motor, motorized and non‑motorized pallet jack; clamp, reach and slip sheet.
  • Knowledge of inventory control and general warehouse procedures.
  • Light data entry skills required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions, to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to write legibly.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Ability to make decisions on customer acceptance based on past experience and fitness for use.
  • Must have attention to detail for continuous mental and visual attention.
  • Data entry skills.
  • Language skills – English.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional and positive manner.

Compensation

Hourly wage for this position is $18.25, plus shift differential.
