The Driver,
CDL-A is responsible for driving a tractor truck or straight truck on intrastate and interstate, delivering and/or unloading food and food‑related products to customers in a safe and timely manner in accordance with Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). The driver communicates and interacts with customers, vendors, and co‑workers professionally, ensuring questions are answered accurately and promptly. They function as a team member within the department and the organization, performing any duty assigned to best serve the company.
- Perform all required safety checks, including pre‑ and post‑trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer in accordance with DOT regulations and company safety standards.
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies.
- Immediately report all safety hazards.
- Inspect trailer for proper loading and securing of freight.
- Perform a count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded.
- Complete all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly.
- Move tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed.
- Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule, unloading products from the trailer and transporting items into designated customer storage areas.
- Perform damage control checks on items, scan, and contact supervisor about removing orders according to company policy. Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures. Collect money (cash or checks) where required.
- Load customer returns onto the trailer and secure trailer doors.
- Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured.
- Unload damaged goods and customer returns, bring to the driver check‑in, and complete necessary paperwork. Unload all equipment, materials, and remove trash from trailers as required.
- Complete daily record of hours of service and enter it in the log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
- Perform general housekeeping duties in the tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean as required. At the end of the shift secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent.
- 6+ months tractor/trailer driving experience.
- Valid CDL-A; must be 21+ years of age.
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
- Attain or have a valid current DOT Health Card and/or be able to secure a new DOT Health Card.
- Be able to hand‑lift and utilize two‑wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying sizes and weights throughout the shift; product generally ranges between 10-35 pounds and up to approximately 60-90 pounds, depending on location.
- 1+ years tractor/trailer driving experience.
- 1+ years food service/delivery or related experience.
- Onboard computer and electronic log system experience (e.g., People Net).
- Hand‑held point‑of‑delivery scanning system experience (e.g., POD).
- Customer service‑related work experience.
