Position: Manager, Mortgage Compliance (Courtier Hypothécaire Dirigeant) - Bilingual FR/EN

About the company

Wealthsimple's mission is to help everyone achieve financial freedom – by making financial services simple, transparent, and low‑cost. We're Canada's largest fintech, trusted by over 3 million clients with more than $100 billion in assets. We move fast, own our work, and care deeply about the people using our products.

About the role

Wealthsimple is looking for a bilingual, regulation‑savvy, and entrepreneurial mortgage professional. Reporting to the Director, Principal Mortgage Broker, you will serve as our designated Courtier hypothécaire dirigeant in Quebec, owning the licensing of our brokerage in Quebec and building the foundation for our presence in the province. This is a ground‑floor opportunity to shape what Wealthsimple Mortgages looks like, with significant room to grow.

Beyond Quebec, you will support the Director on licensing activities across Canada, managing broker licence life cycles province by province and ensuring our national broker network stays compliant and current.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the end‑to‑end process to obtain brokerage licensure in Quebec under the AMF and serve as the designated Courtier hypothécaire dirigeant, owning regulatory submissions, AMF relationships, and ongoing compliance oversight in the province.
  • Become a licensed broker in all provinces and territories across Canada.
  • Build and enforce deal compliance processes, ensuring all mortgage files meet regulatory requirements and conducting regular audits to close gaps.
  • Use AI tools to improve compliance workflows – from licence tracking to document completeness checks – reducing manual effort and increasing reliability.
  • Support the Director on national broker licensing – tracking renewal deadlines, CE/CPD requirements, and regulatory changes across all provinces to ensure zero lapses.
  • Partner with legal, product, and operations teams to keep compliance policies current and support internal and external audits.
Qualifications
  • Compliance‑native mindset: treat regulatory precision as a craft, not a checkbox; understand nuances of provincial mortgage regulation across Canada; hold an active Quebec mortgage broker licence.
  • Active broker: participate actively in brokering to stay credible and grounded in real‑world experience.
  • Problem‑solving: understand and fix issues before they become problems, bring clarity to ambiguity.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in mortgages, compliance, operations, or brokering; leadership experience in a compliance or operations environment required.
  • Licensing expertise: deep understanding of broker licensing requirements, regulatory responsibilities, and provincial compliance obligations; proactive in renewals, education requirements, and changes.
  • Bilingual (French/English): fully fluent in both languages, written and spoken.
  • Experience with AI tooling: interest in using AI for document review, tracking, research, or workflow automation.
  • Proactive and action‑oriented: act without being told, take full ownership, seek input when needed.
  • Efficiency: produce significant output with minimal wasted effort.
  • Strong written and verbal communication: translate dense regulatory language into clear guidance.
  • Honesty and integrity: never cut corners on compliance, hold the same standard for the team you lead.
Benefits
  • Top‑tier health benefits and life insurance.
  • Long‑term group savings with employer match, through Wealthsimple for Business.
  • 20 vacation days, 4 wellness days, and unlimited sick and mental health days per year.
  • Up to 90 days away: work outside Canada for up to 90 days per year.
  • Employee resource groups including Rainbow (2

SLGBTQ), Women of WS, and Black at WS.
  • Hybrid team with over 1,500 employees across North America; collaborative, talented, and driven teammates.
