The Freight Payable Analyst is responsible for end‑to‑end management of freight invoice validation, reconciliation, and issue resolution. This role supports transportation operations tied to a high‑value budget and requires a high degree of autonomy, accuracy, and accountability. As a key contributor between Finance, Logistics, and service providers, the analyst ensures freight costs are accurate, controlled, and aligned with contractual agreements, while proactively identifying discrepancies and process improvement opportunities.
FreightInvoice Validation & Processing
- Validate and process weekly freight payment files in a customized accounting process.
- Analyze pay runs for audit accuracy and elevate issues to the third‑party auditor.
- Assign GL accounts to specific freight payment transactions.
- Manage carriers’ statements to ensure alignment between operational data and financial reporting.
- Support freight accrual and contribute to month‑end close activities.
- Perform detailed reconciliations between freight invoices and SAP records.
- Communicate with service providers to resolve issues and maintain process compliance.
- Act as the escalation point for invoice mismatches and coordinate disputes with auditors and carriers.
- Investigate billing discrepancies and resolve them through the exception portal.
- Track recurring issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure recovery of overcharges and prevent future errors.
- Analyze freight spend via SQL queries, identify trends, and highlight anomalies.
- Prepare monthly reports and dashboards for management.
- Provide insights to support cost control and decision‑making.
- Maintain the Infios exception portal and Infios Power BI dashboards.
- Develop and implement KPIs to uphold process integrity and reveal improvement opportunities.
- Ensure alignment of transportation data between SAP and audit information.
- Participate in monthly carrier review meetings with account managers.
- Maintain and enhance freight payment processes and controls.
- Identify inefficiencies and advocate automation or other enhancements.
- Manage internal chargebacks and international re‑billing.
- Maintain rate cards and contracts.
- Act as the liaison with the third‑party auditing company.
- Communicate with carriers and auditors to ensure compliance.
- Serve as a key contact between Finance, Transportation, Procurement, and Accounts Payable.
- Provide guidance on freight cost interpretation and billing issues.
- Support operational teams with pertinent financial insights.
- University degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering or related field.
- 3‑5 years of experience in a freight payable analyst position (transportation/logistics/supply chain experience preferred).
- Experience with freight invoices, carrier billing, or transportation data.
- Experience with freight audit tools or platforms is desired.
- Knowledge of carrier contracts and rate structures.
- Exposure to process automation or continuous improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge of SAP logistics processes.
- Proficiency in Excel and BI tools such as SAP, Power BI, and Snowflake.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills; strong organizational and executive synthesis abilities.
- Bilingual (French and English) required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage high‑volume data accurately.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify discrepancies and root causes.
- Independent work with minimal supervision and effective task prioritization.
