Geology / Geoscience, Environmental Engineer
Compensation: $185,000–$225,000 base salary, commensurate with experience
About the OpportunityOur client is advancing a large-scale, multi-phase critical minerals project through development and into production, and is seeking a Geology Manager to take full ownership of the site geology program. This is a rare opportunity to shape a resource-defining geology function and build a high-performing team from the ground up, with true ownership of drilling strategy, data management, geological modeling, and team development.
This is a hands-on, field-first leadership role. The right person is as comfortable leading from the field as presenting to leadership, balancing day-to-day technical oversight with the strategic thinking needed to scale a geology function toward long-term operational readiness.
What You ll Do Resource Characterization & Mine Geology- Lead all geologic, geochemical, and petrophysical characterization of the resource, including exploration, infill, and metallurgical drilling programs.
- Implement QA/QC protocols, grade control drilling, sample handling, and data management systems.
- Interpret and integrate core logging, well logs, and geochemical and geophysical datasets to define geologic domains and mineralization controls.
- Build and maintain 3D geological and block models, applying geostatistical methods and variography to inform mine design and metallurgical flowsheet decisions.
- Manage integration of geophysical survey data to refine structural and lithologic interpretations.
- Support mine planning by integrating geologic and structural models into short- and long-range schedules.
- Recruit, mentor, and grow a multidisciplinary team of geologists, technicians, and data scientists, building the systems and processes needed to scale as the project advances.
- Collaborate closely with metallurgy and process engineering to connect geological domains to metallurgical performance and recovery outcomes.
- Represent geology in cross-functional collaboration with mining, processing, environmental, and permitting teams.
- Champion a strong safety culture across all field and geological operations, with visible, hands-on leadership in the field.
- Ensure geological programs meet all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain compliance with SEC S-K 1300 and similar mineral resource and reserve reporting standards.
- Support permitting and regulatory filings, coordinating with third-party consultants as needed.
- Prepare and present technical reports and updates for senior leadership, investors, regulators, and local communities.
- Degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field.
- Registered Professional Geologist, or ability to obtain licensure in the relevant jurisdiction.
- 12+ years of progressive experience in exploration, drill programs, grade control, geologic interpretation, and mine geology, including significant time in a site-based leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of mine planning, drillhole database management, QA/QC systems, and statistical analysis.
- Experience building and maintaining 3D geological resource models, including variography, domain modeling, and industry reporting standards.
- Proven track record leading remote or field-based programs under challenging conditions.
- Strong cross-disciplinary collaboration skills across geology, metallurgy, and project engineering.
- Business and financial literacy, with the ability to connect geological outcomes to project economics.
- Background in feasibility studies and critical minerals development.
- Familiarity with permitting processes (NEPA, BLM, state-level agencies).
- Experience with Leapfrog, Vulcan, Mine Sight, Datamine, or similar 3D modeling software.
- Exposure to machine learning applications in exploration or advanced data integration.
- Familiarity with techno-economic analysis and mine planning software.
