Job Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

- Provide specialized treatment of PTSD and associated mental health needs for Veterans in the Mental Health Programs. Incorporate complex multiple causation into differential diagnosis and treatment of Veterans patients, including psychosocial and psychiatric diagnoses. Evaluate the client’s situation, the Veteran’s reaction & ability to cope, and arrive at a reasoned conclusion. Deliver individual, group, and family psychotherapy interventions for Veterans with PTSD and comorbid mental health conditions.
Implement Measurement‑Based Care, utilize outcome evaluations, and improve treatment services. Develop treatment plans in coordination with appropriate PCT & BHIP Team Members, including goals. Provide independent consultation and make recommendations to the interdisciplinary team. Demonstrate flexibility to accommodate emergency or urgent care matters. Interview Veterans and family members to establish facts about the Veteran’s situation, presenting problems, and impact on function and health.
Use subjective & objective data to conduct clinical assessment, identify viable treatment options, and provide appropriate referrals. Support Veterans who cannot engage fully in PCT care by transitioning them to the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP). Assess at‑risk factors, develop preliminary disposition plans, and handle serious and complicated cases involving psychiatric illness, catastrophic medical conditions, dementia, and other high‑risk diagnoses.
Make independent professional decisions, find suitable treatment approaches, and provide quality therapy using evidence‑based psychotherapies (EBP). Evaluate and improve clinical practice through peer review and case conferences. Act as a liaison between Veterans, families, VA Healthcare System services, and community resources, providing support and consultation.
Work schedule:
Monday‑Friday; 7:30 am – 4:00 pm. Compensation:
Competitive salary with regular increases; potential higher step rate for unique qualifications. Paid time off: 13–26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 federal holidays.
