The Clinical Informatics RN serves as the clinical and technical subject‑matter expert responsible for the design, build, implementation, optimization, maintenance, and support of the organization’s electronic health record (EHR) and associated clinical technologies. This position collaborates closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, ancillary departments, operational leaders, and Information Systems staff to translate clinical workflows into effective technology solutions that improve patient care, safety, quality, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
The Clinical Informatics RN is responsible for the configuration and ongoing support of the organization’s Oracle Health (Cerner) Millennium platform and related clinical applications. This role provides leadership in workflow analysis, solution design, system optimization, end‑user training, upgrade support, go‑live activities, and clinical transformation initiatives. The position serves as a liaison between clinical operations and Information Systems, ensuring that EHR solutions align with organizational goals, evidence‑based practice, and Oracle Health model system recommendations.
Job Functions EHR Design, Build, and Optimization
- Design, configure, implement, and maintain Oracle Health (Cerner Millennium) clinical applications in accordance with organizational standards and Oracle Health model recommendations.

- Utilize core Millennium functionality including but not limited to:
- Event Set Hierarchy
- Core Code Builder
- Code Set Management
- Security and Position Management concepts
- Design and implement workflow enhancements that improve clinician efficiency, patient safety, quality outcomes, and regulatory compliance.
- Build and maintain EHR rules, automation, and decision support tools that reduce manual processes and support best practices.
- Evaluate requested changes and recommend solutions that align with enterprise standards and Oracle Health model system design principles.
- Partner with physicians, nurses, ancillary departments, and operational leaders to assess workflow needs and identify improvement opportunities.
- Analyze existing workflows and recommend system enhancements that improve clinical operations and user experience.
- Translate clinical requirements into technical specifications and EHR build requirements.
- Facilitate meetings with clinical stakeholders to gather requirements, document workflows, and validate proposed solutions.
- Ensure EHR design decisions support standardized workflows and organizational objectives.
- Participate in EHR implementations, optimization initiatives, and clinical technology projects.
- Develop project plans, testing plans, validation scripts, and implementation documentation.
- Coordinate system testing activities, including unit testing, integrated testing, workflow validation, and user acceptance testing.
- Support project go‑lives through planning, deployment, and post‑implementation stabilization activities.
