Workstation Technician
Sheridan Memorial Hospital is a progressive, state-of-the-art facility nestled beneath the Big Horn Mountains in beautiful Northeast Wyoming. The Information Systems Department is dedicated to making information quickly and easily available to facilitate health care providers in giving the highest quality care. As a part of the Information Systems team, the Workstation Technician assists staff at local and remote locations with technical support of desktop computers, applications, and related technology.
Support includes installation and testing of computer systems and peripherals within established guidelines. This position must be able to capture and understand reported issues and independently identify proper solutions.
Highly Visible member of the Information Systems Team. Maintains Workstation Hardware Inventory Works with Help Desk and Network Operations staff as appropriate to determine and resolve problems received from users. Independently performs a variety of computer systems administration and support tasks, including the following:
Desktop and workstation support, PC hardware and software troubleshooting, hardware/software installation, utilize remote maintenance tools to solve first and second-level technical support calls, may include low-to-mid level network and application administration functions. Assist staff with the installation, configuration, and ongoing usability of desktop computers, peripheral equipment, and software. Works with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with desktop computing equipment and software.
Performs a variety of project tasks and requires good communications skills with the ability to work with users diplomatically and skillfully. Works with procurement staff to purchase hardware and software. Other duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
An Associate’s degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science or a related field, preferably supplemental by advanced course work in MIS; or any equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the desired knowledge, skills and abilities. Experience troubleshooting hardware issues and replacing hardware on both desktop and laptop PCs. Experience installing software, patches, updates on Desktops, Laptops, and Servers.
Experience troubleshooting basic network, software, printing problems. The ideal candidate would require the following qualifications: A+ or MCSE Five years of experience supporting Window Operating Systems and desktop/laptop PCs. Good communication skills, excellent customer service skills, knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access expected, efficient use of MHSC help desk application is required, high attention to detail and accuracy, ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
