The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of safe and effective patient‑centered care in a variety of settings. The RN communicates with physicians, managers, and co‑workers about changes in patients’ clinical condition, prioritizes care based on physical and psychosocial needs, and responds quickly to changes in condition or treatment response. The RN performs general nursing duties under appropriate supervision and participates in performance improvement activities.
EssentialJob Functions
- Administers all medications using appropriate safety precautions and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Prepares cancer patients, physically and psychologically, for chemotherapy.
- Instructs patients and families regarding home care following chemotherapy.
- Coordinates and schedules patient care as necessary.
- Assists in educating staff, students, and other healthcare workers about chemotherapy safety and administration.
- Assists in educating staff, students, and other healthcare workers about central lines and central line care.
- Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department or organization.
- Current unrestricted Wyoming Registered Nurse licensure.
- BLS certification, required.
- Minimum one year of acute care experience; BSN preferred.
- Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Certificate required within three months of the position start date.
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) required to be obtained in alignment with Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) standards.
