The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of the delivery of safe and effective patient-centered care in a variety of settings based on education, knowledge, skill set, and competency. The Registered Nurse communicates with physicians/managers/co-workers, as appropriate, about changes in the patient’s clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs.

Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in the departments with adequate supervision. Participates in performance improvement activities.

Provides direct and indirect professional nursing care for patients in the Pediatric Unit, Intensive Care Unit, Medical Surgical Unit, Women’s Health, Emergency Department, Behavioral Health Unit, Transitional Care Unit, and any other area assigned. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs. Communicates with physicians about changes in a patient’s clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.

Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Additionally, is able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision. Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac monitoring. Correctly identifies dysrhythmias and treats appropriately based upon ACLS and PALS protocols.

Education/Experience License and Certification:
Current unrestricted Wyoming Registered Nurse Licensure. BLS certification required. An Associate degree in Nursing required. BSN, preferred. Additional certifications may be required based on unit assignment. A minimum of two years of inpatient nursing is required.

Department Specific Education/Experience/License and

Certifications:

ACLS certification, required. ENPC or PALS certification required. TNCC certification, required within one year of the position start date. De-escalation training within 60 days of the start date, is required. NRP certification, required within 6 months of hire. If employee has completed the required certification(s) prior to hire/rehire that have lapsed, then completion of certification renewal during the department/position orientation period or completion of the next available certification course will meet this requirement.

Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Basic computer knowledge. Organizational skills. Participates in continuing education activities within the department and organization. Attends and actively participates in departmental staff meetings. Keeps up to date with clinical practice and evidence-based practice guidelines. Stays abreast of organizational policies and procedures.
