Lead HVAC & Maintenance Specialist
Join the Wyoming Girls' School (WGS) as the Lead HVAC & Maintenance Specialist, serving as the primary technical expert for monitoring, repairing, and upkeeping all campus heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. In addition to leading HVAC operations, this role delivers comprehensive facility-wide maintenance, including routine, preventive, and emergent repairs across mechanical, plumbing, and access control door systems, alongside minor electrical work.
Seasonal duties involve groundskeeping and winter snow removal to keep the campus running smoothly. Candidates must be versatile, dependable, and available to participate in a 24/7 rotating on-call schedule for facility emergencies.

Essential Functions:
- Maintains and repairs HVAC/R systems, including boilers, VaVs, air handling units, exhaust fans, condensing units, commercial and residential appliances.
- Accomplishes the vast majority of troubleshooting, repair, and monitoring of facility maintenance to ensure the life safety of the campus.
- Use critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills to analyze situations, fix issues, and share ideas clearly
- Provides the Maintenance Manager with viable solutions to make repairs.
- Determines the most cost-effective long-term solutions and methods of accomplishing repairs and projects.
- Assists in the upkeep of all maintenance equipment, including vehicles, tractors, small engine equipment, heavy equipment, backup generators, and other mechanical systems.
- Assists with lawn care, landscaping, and snow removal.
- Assists in the monitoring of water and sewer infrastructure.
- Monitors complex fire systems to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Reviews engineering plans and specifications related to electrical distribution systems, mechanical utility systems, sewage treatment and disposal systems, construction, alteration, rehabilitation, and modernization to be in compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Reads and interprets mechanical and electrical schematic drawings and O&M manuals used in maintaining and repairing facilities.
- Utilizes computer systems such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and HVAC BAS to monitor and document tasks.
Qualifications:
Preference may be given to applicants with an HVAC/R certificate and EPA certification, Associate's degree, plus proven experience in an HVAC/R field as a laborer/technician. Knowledge:
- Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Knowledge in safe operation of various maintenance equipment.
- Knowledge of various tools required to perform maintenance tasks.
- Knowledge in digital multimeter operation, circuit diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting and voltage testing.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations in relation to life-safety and maintenance practices.

0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Skilled Trades) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Skilled Trades Assistant OR Education & Experience Substitution: 2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Skilled Trades) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Skilled Trades Assistant Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Necessary Special Requirements:
- Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
- Must complete the mandatory State of Wyoming and Wyoming Boys' School Training.
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull 50+ pounds.
- Must be able to access the attic and crawl spaces.
- Must be able to perform repetitive and labor-intensive duties, including but not limited to bending, kneeling, standing, or shoveling snow for extended periods of time.
