Wyoming Girls’ School (WGS) in Sheridan is a secure therapeutic and educational facility that provides treatment and support services for court‑ordered delinquent girls ages 12–21. WGS is committed to fostering a safe, structured, and trauma‑responsive environment that promotes personal growth, accountability, skill development, and positive behavioral change. The entry‑level Youth Services position is for the overnight shift (10:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.) and is ideal for individuals interested in human services, criminal justice, psychology, social work, behavioral health, education, or related fields.
Under general supervision, employees in this position provide overnight supervision, monitoring, and support for youth residing at the facility. Responsibilities include maintaining safety and security, conducting routine checks, documenting observations, responding appropriately to situations as they arise, and contributing to a stable and supportive living environment. This role offers valuable hands‑on experience working with at‑risk youth in a professional treatment setting and helps develop communication, crisis response, teamwork, and case‑management skills relevant to careers in human services and public service.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
- Utilize cameras and physical visual checks to monitor students while they are sleeping, performing checks frequently.
- Document unusual events.
- Monitor the physical plant, focusing on safety issues.
- During morning hours, assist in preparing students for cleaning, breakfast, hygiene routines, collecting urinalysis, physical training/educational group activities, and school.
- Provide support and assistance to students.
- Complete building and perimeter checks on a frequent basis.
- Promptly respond to emergency or crisis situations.
- Apply physical and non‑physical intervention skills in crisis situations.
- Preference may be given to applicants with a high school diploma plus one year of work experience with the public or youth.
- Skilled in written and verbal communication, with strong interpersonal abilities.

- Skills in observation, basic report writing, and verbal/non‑verbal communication.
Education: High School Diploma
Experience: 0–1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Youth Services)
OR
Education & Experience Substitution: 1–2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Youth Services)

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS- Must remain awake and alert during shift.
- Must complete mandatory State of Wyoming and Wyoming Girls' School training.
