The City of Sheridan is actively recruiting a positive and honest team player with strong customer service skills to fill the position of Sanitation & Recycling Equipment Operator. This position is responsible for performing equipment operation duties in the collection of trash and recyclables. The ideal candidate will have the ability to operate a variety of large trucks and heavy equipment;
and possess a Wyoming Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Operates trucks on a scheduled route.
- Inspects truck and other equipment for safety and operational readiness; cleans and maintains assigned truck.
- Performs welding on hoppers as needed.
- Trims trees in alleys.
- Performs shop maintenance and custodial duties.
- Operates all equipment used to empty dumpsters.
- Processes recyclables.
- Performs related duties.
The Sanitation and Recycling Supervisor assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK- The work consists of related technical duties. Inclement weather conditions contribute to the complexity of the position.
- The purpose of this position is to participate in the waste collection operations of the city. Successful performance helps ensure the efficient management of trash and recyclables.
- The work is typically performed while intermittently standing, stooping, bending, crouching, or walking. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and must distinguish between shades of color.
- The work is typically performed outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee may be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, contagious or infectious diseases, or irritating chemicals. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggle, or gloves.
