The Sherman Chamber of Commerce is committed to driving economic growth and supporting the business community in Sherman and Texoma.
Position Summary:The Investor & Community Relations Director is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with Chamber investors while supporting engagement, visibility, and retention efforts. This role focuses on investor support, outreach, and touchpoint marketing to ensure members feel informed, valued, and connected to Chamber programs and opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:- Serve as the primary point of contact for day-to-day investor questions, requests, and support needs
- Conduct regular in-person visits and scheduled check-ins with Chamber investors
- Coordinate and attend ribbon cuttings, networking events, and investor-facing activities
- Support investor benefit utilization and ongoing engagement efforts
- Assist with marketing initiatives including promotions, announcements, and investor-focused campaigns
- Support social media, email communications, and digital touchpoints related to investor engagement
- Proactively identify and resolve routine issues before escalation
- Maintain accurate records of investor interactions and outreach activities
- Support event promotion, follow-up communication, and relationship-based marketing efforts
- Represent the Chamber professionally and consistently throughout the community
Required
- 3+ years of experience in member/investor relations, account management, community engagement, business development, or nonprofit membership work (Chamber experience is a plus, but not required).
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with executives, small business owners, and community leaders while maintaining professional rapport.
- Strong written communication skills (emails, announcements, investor messaging) and verbal communication skills (phone calls, in-person visits, speaking to groups).
- Experience coordinating or supporting events such as ribbon cuttings, networking events, sponsor engagement, logistics, and post-event follow-up.
- High level of organization and follow-through; ability to manage a calendar of investor touchpoints, document interactions, and meet deadlines independently.
- Working knowledge of common office tools (Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace) and comfort learning new platforms such as CRM/member databases, email marketing tools, and scheduling systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and represent the Chamber diplomatically and professionally within the community.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for in-person investor visits (local travel required).
- Availability to occasionally work early mornings and/or evenings for Chamber programs and events.
Preferred
- Experience working in a Chamber of Commerce, economic development organization, nonprofit membership organization, or B2B service environment.
- Proficiency with CRM or member management systems (such as Chamber Master, Chamber Mate, or similar), including tracking outreach and producing basic reports.
- Familiarity with email marketing platforms (Constant Contact, Mailchimp, or similar) and supporting social media content.
- Experience assisting with sponsorship fulfillment, investor benefits, or membership retention strategies.
- Strong working knowledge of Canva and ability to create simple, clean promotional graphics.
- Comfort using AI tools (such as ChatGPT) to draft messaging efficiently while maintaining brand tone and accuracy.
- Personable but professional — friendly, not flaky.
- Proactive problem-solver who identifies issues before they become “board agenda items.”
- Calm under pressure — events, people, and last‑minute changes won’t rattle you.
- High integrity and discretion when handling sensitive investor and organizational information.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in relationship management, membership/investor relations, account management, community engagement, or business development.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating or supporting events and executing follow‑up communication.
- Strong working ability with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace and comfort learning new systems (CRM/member databases, email tools).
