Position Overview

West Sherman Baptist Church is in search of a pastor who demonstrates a commitment to the inerrancy and authority of the Bible. The candidate will adhere to the Baptist Faith & Message 2000 and will guide the church on a foundation of biblical authority. The ideal individual will be undergoing personal transformation through God’s Word while leading the congregation towards similar transformation.

The pastor will serve as a text-driven expositor of the biblical text, exhibiting relational delivery and firm conviction.

• The pastor will be approachable and skilled in relationship building.
• He will lead the staff using a team-based approach while appropriately exercising the authority of the pastoral office in all final decisions.
• He will value the insights of long-time church members without compromising the needs of others.
• He will make biblically informed decisions regarding the church's direction and communicate these decisions with grace, leading gently over time.
• The pastor will engage with prospective and current members and promote church ministries.
• West Sherman Baptist Church continues to hold Sunday School, Sunday morning service, Sunday evening service, and Wednesday evening service.

If the candidate has a family, he will prioritize God first, his family second, and the church third. The church seeks a pastor who exemplifies faithful leadership within the home, allowing this to positively influence his leadership within the church.
