Job Summary
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the candidate will conduct technical installation and maintenance activities. The role includes expert level troubleshooting via phone and on‑site, expert technical/mechanical problem solving on multiple lines of equipment, establishing and improving customer satisfaction, attending all mandatory Environmental, Health, and Safety classes, facilitating and reconciling data collection with the customer for tool performance meetings, providing updated non‑confidential literature, and being heavily involved with new products and upgrades in collaboration with customer and factory engineering departments.
Must have a complete understanding of all standard operating procedures and plan daily activities with minimal supervision. Must be able to finalize new system installations while managing the install team when necessary, and perform technical training for subordinates and customers when required.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform expert level maintenance and day‑to‑day scheduling of assignments; maintain multiple lines of equipment, including OEMs, with extensive/applied knowledge of hardware, software, and process, and resolve tool problems through expert troubleshooting.
- Establish and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction; attend customer fab safety classes, observe all customer site rules and regulations, help develop preventative maintenance and troubleshooting programs, and facilitate data collection for tool performance meetings.
- Familiarize with standard operating procedures for the field service organization.
- Coordinate daily activities with minimal supervision, and be available for after‑hour phone and on‑site support as required.
- Provide technical training to less experienced personnel within the department and to customers.
- Offer technical assistance and knowledge on product engineering updates and designs.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, or a related field with additional applicable courses or professional certification in electronics preferred.
- Five or more years of related work experience with extensive/applied knowledge of the semiconductor industry, silicon wafer fabrication, environmental, health and safety, flow controls, pneumatics, chemistry, and computer programming.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with peers, management, and customers.
- Proficiency in basic electronic troubleshooting equipment and basic computer skills (Excel, Word, DOS, Windows operating system, and e‑mail).
- Willingness to travel and/or relocate outside the area based on business needs, including traveling at short notice and remaining on site until task completion.
Must feel confident and comfortable working around hazardous chemicals; be able to work within a confined space; lift heavy loads up to 50 lbs; discern and appropriately handle confidential material and information; think quickly and provide fast problem‑solving answers; handle multiple problems simultaneously.
