Manufacturing Process Improvement Engineer

Job Description

This role focuses on driving productivity, quality, and cost improvements across manufacturing operations through process, tool, and part redesign. The engineer leads cross-functional teams, applies Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, and manages capital expenditure projects to deliver breakthrough gains in process capability and part quality.

Responsibilities

+ Lead productivity projects that involve process, tool, and part redesign, ensuring they deliver measurable improvements in efficiency and quality.

+ Partner closely with production leaders and support teams to uncover, assess, and cost-out productivity and process improvement opportunities.

+ Facilitate and lead team brainstorming sessions using structured productivity decks to generate innovative solutions and improvement ideas.

+ Deliver breakthrough levels of improvement in process capability and part quality through robust engineering and process optimization.

+ Apply Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma tools to improve production efficiencies while reducing operating costs.

+ Identify opportunities for and lead rapid improvement events (such as Kaizen or similar) to drive step-change improvements in performance.

+ Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to cross-functional project teams throughout the lifecycle of improvement initiatives.

+ Ensure on-time execution of Lean and Six Sigma initiatives, from planning and design through implementation and sustainment.

+ Serve as a change agent to institutionalize quality practices in partnership with Manufacturing Engineers and Process Technicians.

+ Continuously seek, share, and implement best practices in manufacturing processes, tools, and methodologies to support ongoing continuous improvement.

Essential Skills

+ Proven experience in project management within a manufacturing environment, including planning, execution, and follow-up.

+ Hands-on experience managing capital expenditure (Capex) projects in a production or industrial setting.

+ Strong experience in process improvement and process engineering, with a focus on manufacturing processes.

+ Demonstrated experience in Lean manufacturing, including the use of Lean tools to eliminate waste and improve flow.

+ Practical experience applying Six Sigma tools and methodologies to improve process capability and reduce variation.

+ Knowledge of manufacturing engineering principles, including tooling design, selection, or optimization.

+ Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive alignment on improvement initiatives.

+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess opportunities, quantify benefits, and prioritize projects.

+ Effective communication skills to collaborate with production leaders, support teams, and technical staff.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+ Mechanical engineering experience or education is beneficial for understanding tooling, equipment, and mechanical aspects of manufacturing processes.

+ Experience working closely with Manufacturing Engineers and Process Technicians to embed quality and process improvements.

+ Exposure to continuous improvement programs and structured improvement events such as Kaizen, rapid improvement workshops, or similar.

+ Familiarity with best practice sharing and knowledge transfer across teams or sites.

+ Any formal training or certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or related continuous improvement methodologies is an advantage.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sherman, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $48.08/hr.
