JOB SUMMARY: Supervises staff responsible for inpatient/outpatient admissions process including centralized scheduling, pre‑admission, registration, financial arrangements, and cashier. Oversees the verification of insurance benefits coverage to ensure compliance with hospital policy, third‑party payers, and applicable regulations for authorizations. Manages staff work schedule to ensure adequate coverage. Coordinates training and staff development activities. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. Collaborates with departments and physician offices to ensure smooth patient flow.

EDUCATION,

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
  • 5+ years of healthcare experiences with a primary focus on Patient Financial Services, a high school graduate or equivalent or Associates Degree in Business Administration with 4 years of healthcare experience in Accounting, Finance or Credit and Collections preferred or Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare related field with 3 years of healthcare experience.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state insurance regulatory policies.
  • Departmental policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of hospital personnel policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the hospital’s information system.
  • Ability to communicate with patients in a pleasant, courteous and diplomatic attitude.
  • Ability to tactfully handle difficult situations with patients, families, physicians, and all hospital personnel.
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks subject to frequent change, such as accommodating changes in schedules, maintaining records, and suggesting operating procedures.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills and ability to provide direction and training to a large number of employees.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and perform under pressure.
