Texoma Medical Center is a 414‑bed acute care facility that has been providing quality health care to the residents of North Texas and Southern Oklahoma since 1965. Our main campus is located in Denison, Texas, approximately one hour north of the Dallas/Fort Worth area and just south of the Texas/Oklahoma border. We offer a range of specialty services including open heart surgery, neurosurgery and certified trauma care, supporting our role as a regional specialty center.

The Mental Health Technician (MHT) functions as an active member of the treatment team, providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction and role modeling for patients ranging from adolescence through geriatric ages. All MHTs work under the direction of a Registered Nurse, reporting any changes in a patient’s condition to an RN.
- Conduct visual observations of patients, collect and record vital signs/symptoms correctly, report abnormalities, and document findings in a timely manner.
- Employ appropriate crisis techniques as needed.
- Assist patients with personal hygiene and activities of daily living under RN oversight.
- Establish and maintain a professional therapeutic relationship with patients, modeling and teaching appropriate social skills.
- Facilitate daily groups as assigned and promote adherence to clinical programming.
- Respond to emergency codes as requested or assigned.
- Safely transport patients of BHC via van or bus to various locations.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One year of related psychiatric patient care experience preferred; one year of driving experience preferred.
- Completion of BLS (Basic Life Support) Healthcare Provider course during new hire orientation and within 60 days of hire. Completion of Handle with Care and Verbal De‑Escalation training within 60 days of hire and annually thereafter.
- Ability to identify and address the special needs of adolescent, adult and geriatric patients and communicate effectively with them.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, be at least 21 years of age, and meet the strict driving record requirements as outlined in the description.
- Excellent time‑management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of road and vehicle safety techniques, devices and their application.
- Ability to absorb and convey complex technical information.
