St. Mary Catholic Parish is seeking a passionate, faithful, and mission-driven leader to oversee the faith formation and sacramental preparation of children and families from Kindergarten through Fifth grade and Confirmation. This position exists to help children and families encounter Jesus Christ, grow as disciples, and become fully integrated into a life with Christ and His Church.

This role works collaboratively within a unified parish vision under the leadership of the Pastor and in close partnership with the Director of Parish Life, Sacramental Coordinator, parish staff, catechists, and volunteers. The ideal candidate is not simply an administrator, but a relational leader capable of building culture, developing volunteers, communicating vision, and helping families take deeper ownership of their faith.

Primary

Responsibilities
  • Faith Formation Leadership
    – Oversee and lead parish faith formation for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade
    – Assist in developing a welcoming, engaging, and evangelizing environment for children and families
    – Ensure catechesis is rooted in Sacred Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and diocesan guidelines
    – Help families grow in participation in the sacramental and communal life of the Church
    – Foster a ministry culture that balances catechesis, discipleship, prayer, and relationship
  • Sacramental Preparation
    – Coordinate preparation for First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation in collaboration with the Sacramental Coordinator
    – Assist in the development and implementation of sacramental parent meetings, retreats, rehearsals, and celebrations
    – Support communication and partnership with parents throughout the sacramental preparation process
  • Volunteer & Catechist Leadership
    – Recruit, train, mentor, and support catechists and volunteers
    – Create a healthy and joyful volunteer culture rooted in prayer, encouragement, and ongoing formation
    – Help volunteers understand and embrace the parish vision for children’s discipleship and family evangelization
    – Ensure all volunteers comply with diocesan Safe Environment requirements
  • Family Engagement
    – Build strong relationships with parents and families
    – Encourage greater family participation in parish life and Sunday Mass
    – Communicate clearly and consistently with families through email, Flocknote, social media, and parish communication platforms
    – Assist parents in understanding their role as the primary educators of the faith
  • Ministry Planning & Administration
    – Assist in planning and organizing calendars, events, schedules, and ministry activities
    – Maintain registration, attendance, and ministry records in collaboration with parish staff and volunteers
    – Coordinate classroom spaces, supplies, curriculum, and ministry materials
    – Collaborate with St. Mary School, parish staff, and ministries to ensure unified parish communication and scheduling
  • Collaboration & Parish Vision
    – Work collaboratively with the Director of Parish Life, Pastor, parish staff, and ministry leaders to support a unified parish mission
    – Participate in staff meetings, leadership development, ministry planning, and parish initiatives
    – Contribute ideas, creativity, and initiative toward the continued growth of children and family ministry y Catholic Church
Qualifications

– Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church
– Deep love for Jesus Christ and His Church
– Passion for evangelization, discipleship, and family ministry
– Strong relational and communication skills
– Ability to lead volunteers and work collaboratively on a team
– Strong organizational and administrative abilities
– Ability to take initiative and think creatively
– Experience in ministry, education, catechesis, or leadership preferred
– Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
– Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Flocknote, and parish database systems Camino preferred (or ability to learn)

Schedule Expectations

– This is a full-time ministry position that includes:
– Establish regular ‘Office Hours’ as to contribute to healthy staff realtions
– Regular weekend and evening ministry responsibilities
– Occasional retreats, trainings, and parish events

Compensation

Compensation is competitive and will be determined based on experience, leadership capacity, education, and the final scope of the role.
