Telecommunications Equipment Operator in Castor

Valard Construction is seeking an experienced Telecommunications Equipment Operator to work in Castor, AB. Operate essential equipment like backhoes for FTTP installations across Alberta.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will play a vital role in executing underground and utility installations. This position involves collaborating with geotechnical engineers on soil mechanics and ensuring the proper placement of telecom structures. Your active participation in daily safety meetings and planning will ensure a smooth workflow.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate backhoes safely and efficiently in various conditions

• Work with engineers for soil density testing

• Accurately place telecom pedestals and structures

• Install fiber and copper cables underground and overhead

• Conduct daily inspections and maintain equipment

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• At least 3 years of backhoe operation experience

• Must possess Ground Disturbance Level 2 certification

• Hold a valid Class-5 driver’s license and abstract

• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and adapt to varying hours
