This position reports to the Performing Arts Programmers at Festival Place. The programs, camps, and or workshops can be scheduled within a wide range (Monday – Sunday from 8:30 am – 9:00 pm).

The programs you may support in this position include:

  • School programs scheduled from Monday – Friday from 8:30 am - 4:00 pm (child/youth/adult)
  • Community programs could be scheduled from Monday-Sunday 9:00 am – 9:00 pm (child/youth/adult)
  • Seasonal camps may be scheduled Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.

    - 5:00 p.m. (child/youth)
  • This position ranges from 3-20 hours per week (based on registrations and programming needs)

This seasonal contract is for up to 3 positions starting in September with an expected end date of December 31, 2026, with possible extension into 2027

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support/develop and deliver a range of performing arts programs, classes, camps, and workshops to a wide variety of audiences within an inclusive, positive, safe, and creative learning atmosphere
  • Plan, develop, and deliver activities that incorporate a variety of art forms, including but not limited to, drama, acting, improv, dance, musical theatre, vocal and instrumental music, film/video
  • Consider skill development and progression, arts education approaches to maximize participant learning, appreciation, and engagement
  • For children and youth, incorporate the interests of the children and support children’s emotional, artistic, and social development, creativity, and fundamental movement skill progression
  • For adults, incorporate relevant interests as well as opportunities for skill development and self-expression
  • For seniors develop age-appropriate programs incorporating principles that enhance well-being, improve quality of life, and combat isolation
  • For school groups, understand curriculum connections and teacher objectives, and desired outcomes to support educational success
  • Prepare materials and plans for each program/workshop/camp
  • Ensure program spaces are prepared and safe and that materials and equipment are used in accordance with County OHS guidelines
  • Provide excellent guest service for program participants and the community
  • Collaborate and positively interact within a team environment
  • Manage forms, documents, and communications with class participants
  • Communicate any questions, issues, or concerns to the Recreation Programmer – Performing Arts
  • Assist with program documentation and administration and site preparation
  • Provide safe and effective supervision for participants in programs while ensuring all health and safety requirements are consistently followed. Lead role in coordinating and delivering programs, seasonal camps, workshops, and activities
  • Provide administrative support to the operation of programs/seasonal camps/workshops (i.e. waivers, pick up/drop forms, camp evaluations, communication with parents, etc.)
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Positive, proven leadership and team-building skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing work environments and demands along with time-management skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain high standards of respect, safety, quality, and cooperation
  • Skill and experience in program development and instructing programs in group settings
  • Demonstrated skill and knowledge in any or all art forms, including but not limited to, drama, acting, improv, dance, musical theatre, vocal and instrumental music, film/video
  • Experience working with children and youth(teaching/mentoring)
  • Experience with in performing arts
Conditions of Employment:
  • Submission of Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Current First Aid and CPR (Level

    C) certification
  • Ability to lift 20lbs. including supply totes as part of the job duties and stand for extended periods
