Patient Care Technician
Overview
The Emergency Department manages a broad spectrum of emergencies, including cardiopulmonary arrest, trauma, motor vehicle accidents, industrial accidents, and child and domestic violence injuries. Critical adult, pediatric, and burn patients are transferred to specialty hospitals in St. Louis, Missouri. Helicopter and advanced life support ambulances are utilized.
Position Details- Preferred experience as a CNA, nurse assistant, emergency medical technician, or surgical technician

- 36 hours per week (10:45 am–11:15 pm)
- Holiday rotation
- Every other weekend required
- Implement direct patient care under the supervision of the nurse, promoting patient and family‑centered care in a healing environment.
- Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), perform vital signs, intake & output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, or point‑of‑care testing as requested.
- Collect clinical data and information on patients, and report changes in patient status to the nurse.
- Assist nurse with patient and family education.
- Document all patient care activities provided with correct medical terminology, acting as a 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
- Ensure availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
- Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance, and professional development.
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
- No prior experience required (preferred for certain roles)
- Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)
- Experience as an emergency medical technician (EMT) or surgical technician (preferred but not required)
- Certified Nurse Assistant
