ICU Travel Nurse Job Details- Position: Travel ICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Critical Care
- Location: Shiloh, IL 62269
- Facility Type: An acute care hospital in Shiloh, IL (Magnet-designated)
- Unit: ICU (6 beds; average daily census ~6)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (03/23/2026 – 06/22/2026)
- Schedule: Nights
- Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45 – 07:15)
- Hours/Week: 36 (3x12s)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Patient Ratios: Typically 1:1–1:2 (nights commonly 1:2)
- EMR: Epic (electronic medical record)
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling
- Floating: May float within scope to Medical Cardiology or Med/Surg; may also float between nearby affiliated campuses as needed
- On-Call: Not required
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent ICU RN experience (outside of orientation)
- License: Active Illinois RN license (must be in hand at submission)
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (required)
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
- Critical Care Skills: Ventilator care/management; hemodynamic monitoring; arterial line and central line care; titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips; dysrhythmia interpretation/management;
BiPAP/CPAP and HFNC; IV insulin protocols; stroke/CVA management - Preferred: Pulmonary artery line/Swan-Ganz monitoring experience
- Work Style: Self-motivated and comfortable practicing with autonomy; intensivist support may be available via Tele-ICU at times
- Provide comprehensive critical care nursing for high-acuity medical and respiratory ICU patients, including ventilated patients
- Perform ongoing assessment, early recognition of deterioration, and rapid intervention to stabilize critically ill patients
- Manage hemodynamics and titrate vasoactive/cardiac drips per protocol; maintain arterial and central lines
- Care for a broad ICU case mix including DKA, stroke, renal failure, pneumonia/asthma, CHF, atrial fibrillation/flutter, hypertensive crises, and post-cardiac cath/pacemaker patients
- Support neuro/surgical and high-acuity post-op patients (e.g., GYN, general, ortho joint replacements, fractures, GI, robotic surgeries)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary partners (RT, pharmacy, IV team, PT, radiology, social services, rapid response, and more) to coordinate safe, evidence-based patient care
- Document accurately and efficiently in Epic EMR, maintaining compliance with unit standards and patient safety practices
- Float within scope to support patient care needs while maintaining quality and continuity of care
