Overview

Memorial Hospital Belleville is an acute care hospital offering medical and surgical services plus critical and emergency care including pediatric emergency care. It provides comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services as well as heart and vascular care. Memorial, a Chest Pain Center accredited by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care and a designated Acute Stroke Ready Hospital by the Illinois Department of Public Health, recently was accredited by the American College of Radiology as a Lung Cancer Screening Center.

Since 2008, it has been recognized as a Magnet certified organization for nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Memorial Hospital Shiloh, a 94-bed all-private suite hospital, received Magnet status in 2018 and offers emergency care, labor & delivery, nursery, and critical care. The Outpatient Surgery Center provides surgical services to ambulatory patients who do not require an inpatient stay.

  • Day off varies during weekdays
  • Call: 1 weekday night per week (Mon-Fri) and every sixth weekend
  • Holiday call: typically 1 shift per year
  • 45-minute call response time

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.

Responsibilities
  • Promotes patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and families on managing illness or injury, post-treatment home care needs, and medication administration.
  • Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance, and engages in professional development.
  • Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team and with patients, families, or caregivers. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan across the continuum of care.
  • Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care. Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work with constant alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of the job.
Minimum Requirements
  • Nursing Diploma or Associate’s degree in Nursing

  • 2+ years of current acute-care nursing experience
