Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - ED - Emergency Department - $32-48 per hour

BJC Health Care is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department at Memorial Shiloh Hospital in Shiloh, Illinois. This is a full‑time night position with competitive pay, a BSN differential, shift differential, and benefits eligibility.

Overview

The Emergency Department manages a broad spectrum of emergencies including cardiopulmonary arrest, trauma, motor vehicle accidents, industrial accidents, and child and domestic violence injuries. Critical adult, pediatric and burn patients are transferred to specialty hospitals in St. Louis, Missouri. Helicopter and advanced life support ambulances are utilized.

Responsibilities
  • Provides direct patient care activities such as assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of nursing care standards.
  • Promotes patient and family‑centered care in a healing environment.
  • Educates patients and their families on managing illness or injury, including post‑treatment home care needs and medication administration.
  • Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Participates in professional development.
  • Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team, patient, family, or caregiver.
  • Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
  • Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
  • Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs.
  • Ensures constant state of alertness and safe performance as this is a safety‑sensitive position.
Minimum Requirements
  • Education:

    Nursing Diploma/Associate’s – Nursing

    Certifications:

    RN
Preferred Requirements
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s Degree – Nursing
  • Experience:

    Under 2 years preferred
