Registered Nurse; RN - First Assist

Job Title and Location

Registered Nurse (RN) First Assist – Shiloh, Illinois.

The RN First Assistant works alongside the surgeon during procedures, delivering intraoperative patient care, performing pre‑operative assessments, and managing peri‑operative plans of care for adult and pediatric patients.

• Delivers intraoperative patient care as the first assistant to the surgeon(s) as a collaborative team member.
• Pre‑operatively performs a focused nursing assessment in reference to planned procedure and analyzes the assessment data to determine nursing diagnosis.
• Identifies and communicates desired patient outcomes throughout the perioperative continuum.
• Monitors patient response and modifies plan of care accordingly; administers medications according to standard nursing practice.
• Develops and manages an individual plan of care that directs the intervention(s) of the RNFA; implements, manages, and coordinates perioperative plan of care.
• Evaluates patient progress toward attaining outcomes and systematically evaluates quality of nursing practice.
• Participates in professional development, lifelong learning, and contributes to the professional growth of peers and colleagues.
• Integrates knowledge, skills, and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families, including education; incorporates research findings into practice.
• Advocates for individuals and groups related to perioperative health safety and provides leadership in the profession.

Minimum Requirements:

• Education:
  
  Nursing Diploma or Associate’s degree.
• Experience:
  
  2 to 5 years of nursing experience.
• Licenses &
  
  Certifications:
  
  Current RN license.

Preferred Qualifications:

• BSN degree.
• Certified First Assistant certification.
• Certified Nurse OR (CNOR) certification.
• Other RN first assist certifications.
