Nature and Scope
The Sr. Inventory Control Specialist will be the process owner and is responsible for all assigned tasks relating to consumable inventory control to ensure there is no interruption to the manufacturing process.
The Inventory Control Specialist will work with vendors, Warehouse, Planning, Procurement Management and EHS to oversee the flow of inventory into and out of the manufacturing area to support the Aseptic Preparation Area [APA], Washroom and Cleaning processes. Scope will include the gowning, scrub, uniform, goggle rental program as well as managing the issuance of plant/safety shoes (Shirley site).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Establish a manual process to control and provide inventory accountability of the sterile and non‑sterile rental program (Shirley site) as well as all supplies to support the manufacturing process including cleaning activities.
- Develop with all Manufacturing groups an Excel list of all non‑inventory items, with established minimum reordering points as well as group‑specific individual material counts on a monthly basis (Ohio site).
- Assist in integrating production supply inventory into the Warehouse Mobility system currently used in manufacturing.
- Ensure all garments are accounted for both incoming and outbound from vendors by establishing a “check and balance” system (Shirley site).
- Maintain inventory cycle count of physical inventory on a routine basis.
- Assist in developing solutions to specific problem areas by working with Warehouse, Planning, Procurement Management and vendors.
- Develop SOPs and change controls to support the use of consumable inventory and introduction of materials/inventory to the plant.
- Request and review Inventory Analysis Reports to determine average usages of garments based on sizes, colors and garment type to ensure proper inventory levels (Shirley site).
- Re‑evaluate inventory levels based on actual inventory counts and data provided in the inventory report.
- Develop a predetermined schedule to identify appropriate sizes required by the canvassing workforce; execute per schedule and adjust inventoried garment sizes based on vendor contract commitments.
- Establish a visual Kanban system for inventory resupply, return of soiled garments and control.
- Update/create procedures and provide training as required to support the inventory control process.
- Establish a process that ensures the timely review and approval for sterile supplies such as garments and goggles based on usage and inventory levels to ensure an adequate supply to support filling.
- Identify significant variances and determine cause in supplies usage; work with procurement to adjust inventory levels as appropriate.
- Initiate purchase orders as required to support the inventory process.
- Develop a training outline and conduct training for all employees who handle or use inventory and/or are involved with the inventory flow and process to drive accountability, increase awareness, and reinforce good practices and behaviors.
- Conduct training to reinforce proper use of garments to avoid unnecessary damage.
- Create confidence and communication among the staff working and handling the garments with key stakeholders.
- Develop specifications for all inventory items.
- Coordinate the timely and efficient movement of production supplies to and from the warehouse with warehouse personnel.
- Maintain a satisfactory level of housekeeping and organization within the production supply storage area.
- Monitor safety and take positive steps to eliminate hazardous situations.
- Consult with American Regent IT Department to assess the possibility of incorporating production supply inventory either into the Warehouse Mobility system currently used in manufacturing or into a new system.
