The New York Cancer Foundation has been awarding grants to patients currently under treatment for cancer since 2016. Our goal is to relieve some of the financial burden patients are facing so they may focus on their healing.
In This Role, You Will- Support and oversee the grant application process for our grant recipients from beginning to end, including calling patients, documenting workflow, and processing checks for distribution of approved grants.
- Assist with the Foundation’s special event support, cultivation activities, and internal and external promotion of the Foundation to patients and those who support patient care and treatment.
- Respond to patient calls and emails, including Uber Health rides.
- Report data and statistics weekly and monthly to the Executive Director and Foundation Grant Manager.
- Handle and oversee applicant grant processing, including timely correspondence with inquiries, offer support, and help with the application process.
- Support staff with any issues.
- Manage financial grant disbursements to stay within the total grant amount.
- Provide data review for Quarterly Board meeting presentations.
- Troubleshoot with the team to create efficiencies where applicable.
- Mentor and train staff – coordinate team attendance and vacations, promote career paths and a positive culture.
- Seek out volunteers online and through partner collaboration.
- Other duties as requested by the Executive Director.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Three to five years of relevant work experience, ideally including grant administration and familiarity with nonprofit organizations.
- Previous association management experience and familiarity with nonprofit boards of directors a plus.
- Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, and communications skills.
- Computer proficiency and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and timelines.
- Acute attention to detail and accuracy in outputs.
- Ability to work successfully in a team environment.
- Must be able to handle and comfort cancer patients during a difficult time.
- May be required to attend events on evenings or weekends.
- Salary starting at $60,000; based on experience and education.
