Travel Consultant Trainee – This trainee position is designed as preparation for a Travel Agent role within the Travel Agency. The trainee will support the agency in selling and serving clients while gaining education and experience in both international and domestic travel products and modes of transportation. The role requires consistently high service quality, sales, and cross‑sell performance while maintaining confidentiality of client information.

Responsibilities
  • Learn and develop the skills to sell foreign and domestic travel products and services.
  • Utilize lead‑management tools to cultivate new business and build a solid base of repeat business.
  • Advise clients on all foreign and domestic travel requirements, protection plans, and related trip‑advisory information.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures and provide accurate documentation of all transactions.
  • Develop product knowledge to support the Preferred Supplier program and achieve sales and cross‑sell goals.
  • Issue international driving permits and passport photos.
  • Handle air, car, hotel, rail reservations and ticketing for members and non‑members.
  • Use appropriate computer systems to fulfill travel requests, track transactions, and maintain accuracy, including supporting documentation and payment processing.
  • Identify cross‑sell opportunities based on member needs and service requests.
  • Contribute sales leads to other departments as appropriate.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client/member information in accordance with federal, state, and club policies.
  • Research and compare suppliers’ rates, analyze cruise and tour packages, and work closely with management to develop necessary skills.
  • Resolve difficult situations and document decisions, including write‑offs or shortages.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate’s degree preferred.
  • 1‑3 years of travel agency or sales experience preferred.
  • Moderate knowledge of the organization’s operating areas, products, and services.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Moderate analytical and time‑management skills.
  • Knowledge and training on computer systems used for member travel requests and agency accounting systems preferred.
  • Proficiency in general typing, Windows, Outlook, Word, and Internet/Intranet access required.
  • Familiarity with company systems such as Apollo, Viewpoint, and vendor websites for cruise, tour, and travel insurance preferred.
Travel Requirements

May require taking educational trips to gain job knowledge (approximately 10% of the time).
