Position SummaryThe elementary vocal music teacher provides developmentally appropriate instruction for students in Kindergarten through Third Grade. The teacher reports directly to the elementary principals, coordinating concerts, facilities and curriculum, and fulfills all expectations and requirements of the role.
Essential Functions- Model a committed Christian faith and minister to the spiritual needs of students and the school community.
- Educate students in a manner consistent with the Christian tenets of CRISTA’s Statement of Faith, integrating faith and learning into all curriculum and programming.
- Teach a biblical worldview integrated into all curriculum and activities.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the Bible and the application of a biblical worldview to subject matter and conduct.
- Engage and inspire the academic, spiritual and emotional growth of students.
- Provide leadership by preparing and leading staff devotionals and prayer.
- Model a personal Christian faith that aligns with CRISTA’s Statement of Faith.
- Minister to the spiritual needs of students, fostering a vibrant Christian faith community.
- Lead meetings in prayer and support students’ spiritual formation.
- Maintain professional standards and coordinate and teach the vocal music curriculum and programs for elementary students.
- Implement movement, instruments and active participation, building relationships with students, parents, faculty and staff.
- Assess student growth and provide feedback.
- Organize and conduct four music programs and concerts per year.
- Coordinate volunteers and manage equipment and program logistics.
- Assist in supervising activities that require a cooperative teacher effort and participate in extracurricular activities, committees, staff meetings and professional development.
- Notify principals of any inability to fulfill duties and prepare substitute materials when absent.
- Obtain prior approval for music program purchases.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Engages staff and colleagues through prayer, devotionals and spiritual practices.
- Affirms CRISTA’s Statement of Faith and Christian Community Commitment.
- Conducts self in a manner that reflects well on CRISTA Ministries.
- Demonstrates values of a CRISTA leader.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education, Vocal Music, Elementary Education, or related field.
- Teaching elementary students preferred.
- Maintain professional certification and endorsements required by King’s Schools and the State of Washington.
- CPR/First Aid/AED training.
- Microsoft Suite including Teams, Office 365.
- Follow procedures outlined in the employee handbook and Residents’ Rights policies.
- Come to work as scheduled with dependability and punctuality.
- Pass background checks related to DSHS Secretary’s List of Crimes and Negative Actions (WAC 388‑113).
- Read, write, communicate in English at a functional level.
- Interact with a wide variety of people, especially the elderly and their families.
- Solve problems independently.
- Multi‑task and exercise discretion on prioritization.
- Work collaboratively with supervisor, coworkers and residents.
Education
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Kodaly method preferred, not required; openness to learning.
- Teaching Certificate.
